Gebelev-street

Former Mebelinyy lane of the capital in 2005-th was renamed to Gebelev street. But many Minsk people do not know in honour of who it is named. Memorial board on house N 1/15 (crossroad of the streets Gebelev and Kollektornaya) became reminder a Minsk people about heroic activity of the fearless member of the war-underground. Its opening took place in October, 15, 2005-th. In this day is performed 100 years since Gebelev’s birth day. Authors of the memorial board - a sculptor Alexander Dranec and laureate of Leninist premium - architector Leonid Levin.

Fearless German - such secret moniker carried member of the underground Mihail Gebelev. He was born and lived in Minsk. Before Great World War II worked instructor of Stalinist direct committee, was one of the creators of underground organization in jewish ghetto at years of the occupations of the capital of Belarus by german-fascist invaders. Being one of the leaders of Minsk underground, since first days of existence ghetto in capital of Belarus, Mihail Gebelev has stayed at the head of organization of the resistance nazi power in ghetto. He carried across barbed wire ghetto prisoners in partisans, Soviet information agency, was shown one of the creators of underground printing-activity. One of the nearest associate in fight with invaders was his friend - Isay Kazinec, awarded posthumously ranks Hero of SOVIET UNION. 16 Mihail Livovich's relatives perished in ghetto. Fearless German was got by nazi on August, 15, 1942-nd and was hung in Minsk prison. He was whole 37 years. Mihail Gebelev was awarded by order of the World War II, 2-nd degree posthumous.
